Love Is Blind season 7 star Taylor Krause tried her hardest to follow the experiment’s rules before finding The One — and it paid off.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the “What’s the Reality” podcast, Taylor chatted with host and fellow Love Is Blind alum AD Smith about what really went down behind the scenes while filming the reality dating show.
“I just remember we would go back to the lounge and girls would be like, ‘I know exactly what he looks like,’” AD — who previously appeared on season 6 — claimed. “I’m like, ‘Well, what is the point of this?’”
Taylor recalled a similar experience while she was getting to know her now-husband, Garrett Josemans, in the pods. “I vividly remember Marissa [George], we were in the kitchen and she was like, ‘I know Garrett’s doppelgänger. Do you wanna know?’ And I was like, ‘Obviously I wanna know, but don’t tell me,’” she said. “Those temptations are always in the lounge.”
Neither of the women folded to the pressure. “I gave nothing,” AD teased. “‘What do you look like?’ I don’t know. ‘Who’s your celebrity twin?’ I don’t know. … The show is Love Is Blind, not Love Drops Little Hints of What I Might Look Like Just in Case You Want a Fat Ass and Small Waist.”
Taylor noted that there are still ways to discuss looks during pod dates, referring to the unforgettable season 6 moment where Chelsea Blackwell told Jimmy Presnell that her celebrity lookalike is Megan Fox.
“I think it’s not shown on the show that you can share what you look like,” Taylor said. “You get clips of it, you know, like Megan Fox or things like that. For me, I just thought that I was really playing by the rules.”
While Taylor eventually found her happy ending with Garrett, fans watched the couple hit a snag on season 7 over the topic of ethnicity. As she opened up about her family, Taylor hesitated to reveal her mother’s name, explaining to Garrett, “My mom’s first name, I think, gives a way part of how I look, like, my ethnicity.”
Garrett admitted at the time that Taylor’s ethnicity “hadn’t crossed my mind in any direction,” saying, “It’s just a shock. … Not a shock, but you are very, like, calculated about what you say. And while I love that about you, it’s also like, ‘What’s she hiding?’”
On “What’s the Reality,” Taylor claimed the conversation was taken “the wrong way” by viewers. “We talked about ethnicity [at] times before that and it wasn’t an issue for him,” she explained. “I was having trouble opening up in the pods. … I think Garrett was very open-minded to whatever ethnicity [I would have been].”
Taylor added that she understood how Garrett’s response “could be seen in a different way” without context. “I was playing by the rules and also having trouble opening up. No one really knows how to respond, how to do this very well,” she said.
Before season 7 premiered in October 2024, Taylor exclusively opened up to Us about Garrett calling her “calculated,” admitting it was “hard to hear.”
“For me, the pods were actually pretty hard, like, being on camera that whole time and getting used to it and having these really deep conversations and I started to really like the guy!” she told Us. “And to be called calculated when I’m just trying to be thoughtful, it was the first time that I felt, like, that punch in the gut during the experience. [But] I didn’t hold it against him ’cause I knew where it was coming from.”
