Love Is Blind season 9 star Kacie McIntosh has a message for any critics of her appearance on the reality TV series.

“I understand I have made mistakes during my time on LiB,” Kacie, 32, wrote in a statement shared via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, October 4. “However, there is far more to the heavily edited story than what is being aired, and I hope I can share my side soon.”

She continued, “In the meantime, please leave my friends and family out of this negativity as they did not choose to be in this experiment. I did — and please stop with the death threats. [My cat] Chardonnay needs a mom.”

Kacie got engaged to Patrick Suzuki sight unseen on Love Is Blind season 9, which started airing on Netflix earlier this week. Despite proclaiming her love to 31-year-old Patrick, the hair and makeup artist ended their engagement several hours after meeting him in person.

“He deserves somebody better than me. He’s not a bad-looking guy in any sense, but he deserves somebody that is so obsessed with him,” Kacie said in a confessional during the sixth episode, blaming her change of heart on a lack of physical attraction. “I just, unfortunately, don’t think my attraction to him is gonna grow that much, and it sucks.”

She added, “I just know it won’t, and I think it would be so unfair to him to have us go to Mexico and then me have to tell him there that I just don’t think I could get there with him, like, period.’”

Kacie, however, did not break off her engagement to Patrick directly. She only told him that she didn’t want to take the cast’s post-pods trip to Mexico. Patrick subsequently noted in a separate interview that he planned to still date Kacie after returning to Denver.

“I still feel good about her,” Patrick said in his confessional. “I think we’ll probably take it slow with her moving forward, but she says she still loves me. I think she’s pretty genuine. I don’t think she’s gaslighting [and] you can tell we’re attracted to each other. It has nothing to do with physical attraction [as she told me it didn’t].”

Since the episodes began airing, Patrick also addressed the fan hate directed at Kacie.

“Hey everyone, I’ve been reading the comments and DMs,” Patrick wrote via his Instagram Stories on Saturday. “I’m blown away by all the love and support — thank you. I’ll do my best to get back to everyone. Please remember we’re all human.”

Patrick further asked his social media followers to “take it easy” on Kacie, his other connection Anna Yuan and the rest of the season 9 cast.

“I don’t condone hate in any capacity,” Patrick concluded, signing his note “Baby Seal.” (In the pods, Patrick jokingly likened his hairless body to the aquatic mammal during a conversation with Kacie.)

Patrick was in a Love Is Blind love triangle with Kacie and Anna, 28, until the latter abruptly quit the experiment.

Love Is Blind is currently streaming on Netflix. New episodes drop weekly.
