Jennifer Aniston got brutally honest about the hard work that goes into filming each season of The Morning Show.
“Every year since I finished the first season, I was like, ‘Well, that’s it — I’m dead. That just killed me,’” Aniston, 56, shared in Glamour‘s cover story, which was published on Tuesday, September 2. “And then you forget.”
Aniston, who is currently dating Jim Curtis, compared production on The Morning Show to giving birth.
“I kind of compare it to what childbirth must be like when my friends are like, ‘You just kind of forget what it was, and then next thing you know you’re knocked up again,’” the actress, who plays Alex, explained. “And having that same agony of pushing that watermelon out of a tiny little pinhole and then you just get to do it again.”
Aniston continued: “So I do feel there’s something extraordinary about finishing a season and not saying those words of, ‘I’m done.’ And just knowing that you’ve got to decompress and walk away from it for a while, and in my case, go do a comedy as fast as possible.”
The Morning Show returns to Apple TV+ for season 4 on September 17, and according to the official synopsis is focused on how the newsroom “must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups — who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real?”
In addition to Aniston, 56, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman, Mark Duplass, Greta Lee, Jon Hamm, Nicole Beharie, Marion Cotillard and Nestor Carbonell return. There will also be newcomers Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper and Boyd Holbrook.
Aniston previously teased what fans can expect from the show after that merger shook up UBN.
“The Morning Show is just a beast to film,” she told People in July. “It is layered, it’s complicated, it’s emotional, it hits on a lot of topics and current events, so let’s just say, it’s not Friends.”
Since joining the show in 2019, Aniston noted that bringing the show to life “takes a lot out of you” from season to season.
“We’re involved in every single aspect of the show, on top of just the performance side, which is a big piece of it,” she added at the time. “But I’ve got incredible support, and we have such an incredible team.”
The Morning Show returns September 17 on Apple TV+ with new episodes airing weekly on Wednesdays.
