Jenna Dewan brought out all the “cool mom” vibes to celebrate her daughter Everly’s 12th birthday.
The actress shared photos via Instagram on Saturday, May 31, from Everly’s party, which appeared to have a Labubu theme. (The grinning Pop Mart collectible creatures have been soaring in popularity as of late.) Treats included a pink Labubu cake by Los Angeles-based Cakes by Claritza and a sweets setup by Cocoa & Candy. Dewan, 44, also decorated with Labubu and heart balloons, and hosted an outdoor picnic-style screening of Clueless.
“She’s 12,” Dewan wrote alongside a photo of Everly via her Instagram Stories. “There are too many emotions to even begin to express and process today but I am overwhelmed with pride. Evie, you are beautiful inside and out, the sweetest most empathetic and gorgeous shiny soul and forever and ever the most fun to be around. I am the luckiest mama in the world!!! Thank you for forever changing my life, sweet girl!”
The Rookie star also posted a sweet tribute to Everly via Instagram. Alongside a carousel of photos, she wrote, “I get so emotional on your birthdays Evie because there are just no words to express it all. You made me a mama, you have always been my catalyst north star, magical spirit, soul baby that there is just no way to express how much you mean to me! You are light, you are everything magical and special and amazing and I am so lucky to be your mom! Thank you for being you in this world. We all love you so much, you are everything to all of us and I can’t wait to continue celebrating you today and every day!! Happy Birthday, Monkey!”
Dewan shares Everly with ex-husband Channing Tatum, whom she was married to from 2009 to 2018. She is now engaged to Steve Kazee, with whom she shares son Callum, 5, and daughter Rhiannon, 11 months.
Callum and Rhiannon were in attendance at their big sister’s party, with Dewan sharing photos of the pair enjoying the balloon decor.
Dewan and Tatum, 45, have prioritized their daughter as they’ve worked out a coparenting relationship.
She told Romper in 2024: “It’s always a journey. It never ends. You just learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority. I just continually put her first. That’s how I can manage all hard things.”
Tatum opened up a bit about their dynamic in a 2023 Vanity Fair profile, admitting he and Dewan had different approaches to parenting.
12`q“I think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different. But when you’re actually parents, you really understand [the] differences between the two of you,” he said. “Because it is screaming at you all day long: how you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.”
Tatum added that although divorce was hard, it’s made him a better father.
“It was probably exactly what I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work, I think, on myself in the way that I had to do the work on myself to really try to figure out what next. And really, it just started with my daughter,” he said. “I just dropped everything and just focused on her. And it was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done. Because in the alone time that I have with just me and her, we’ve become best friends.”
