Jay Cutler has reportedly started serving out his DUI sentence.

Multiple outlets reported on Monday, September 29, that Cutler, 42, entered a Tennessee jail. He is expected to remain in Williamson County Jail until Friday, October 3, after being sentenced to time behind bars.

Us Weekly confirmed in October 2024 that Cutler was arrested in Tennessee on charges of driving while intoxicated, gun possession while under the influence and violation of implied consent law and failure to exercise due care.

After Cutler’s truck rear-ended another car, a police press release alleged that officers who interviewed Cutler at the scene of the collision “noticed a strong odor of alcohol” on him. (Cutler has since been sued by the other driver in the collision.)

“Cutler was also slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes,” the release continued. “Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant.”

Authorities subsequently located “two firearms in his vehicle, including a loaded pistol.” Cutler initially spent hours at the Williamson County Jail before he was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

The former NFL star pleaded guilty in August to one count of misdemeanor DUI. Per the deal, prosecutors agreed to drop the three other charges filed against Cutler, and he was sentenced to four days in jail.

At the time, Cutler was also ordered to pay a $350 fine, attend DUI classes and had his license revoked for a period of time. Cutler will serve one year on probation after his release.

Cutler offered a glimpse of him on a deer hunting trip in a nearby state days before the arrest.

“Last night, ran up to Kentucky,” Cutler said in a video posted via Instagram in October 2024. “The weather dropped a little bit, the temperature, pressure was high and the deer that I’ve been hunting had been showing up the last two evenings. We figured with the temperature dropping we might come out a little bit earlier.”

After news broke about Cutler’s arrest, his ex-wife, Kristin Cavallari, broke her silence on his legal drama.

“Really quickly, just before we get into the episode, I wanted to hop on here and just let you guys know that this episode was recorded right before a very public incident happened last week with my ex-husband,” Cavallari explained on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “Just keep that in mind as you’re listening.”

Cavallari noted that she wouldn’t be providing further statements about Cutler’s arrest.

“I will not be commenting on what happened,” she added. “I do of course wish Jay nothing but the best and I do hope that he gets the help that he needs. But that’s the only thing that I will be saying about it publicly.”
