When Jennifer Aniston touched down in Mallorca, Spain, over the 4th of July weekend, it seemed like just another holiday was on the horizon for the Friends alum. Shielding herself from the blazing sun in a wide-brim hat and dark shades, Aniston, casually dressed in a black tank top and jeans, stepped out with her longtime friend and collaborator Jason Bateman and his wife, Amanda Anka. Security guards immediately ushered the trio into an awaiting SUV, but eagle-eyed fans noticed a fourth VIP in the mix: a strapping, salt-and-pepper-haired man quickly identified as wellness guru Jim Curtis, who, multiple sources exclusively tell Us Weekly, has been secretly dating Aniston for months.
“They are being super private but have been spending a lot of time together,” one source shares. The fact that the famously guarded actress, 56, brought Curtis, 49, on vacation with some of her closest pals speaks volumes. Adds a second insider: “This is the first guy Jen has been serious with in years.”
Getting Together
Curtis describes himself as a “wellness pioneer” on his website, one whose mission for the past 25 years has been to help “thousands of others break free from their past and patterns to create an entirely new reality full of connection, community and love.” As a master hypnotherapist and transformational coach, he offers courses, live coaching and community events to support participants on their journeys to unlock their highest potential and “attract loving relationships.” Translation: He’s a self-help guru for the modern, spiritually curious crowd who says things like “you deserve love” — and means it.
His work with celebrities, including Chrissy Teigen, Miranda Kerr, Julianne Hough and Nina Agdal, ultimately led him to Aniston, whom he first met “several years ago” before things turned romantic, according to the source. “Jim has a handful of clients and mutual friends who run in the same circle as Jen.” The insider tells Us it was members of Aniston’s tight-knit crew who encouraged her to take a chance with Curtis. “Her friends are always trying to set her up, and she usually laughs it off and doesn’t take it seriously,” explains the insider. “Jim felt different, and she decided to give it a shot.” The couple “really hit it off,” adds the source, and began “hanging out a lot but very much on the DL” at her home in Los Angeles.
Soft-Launching
Until Mallorca, Aniston and Curtis had managed to keep their get-togethers out of the spotlight, but they have been publicly supporting each other on social media for some time. Since 2023, the actress has been increasingly “liking” the New York City-based life coach’s inspiring, wellness-focused Instagram posts, including a July 2 video about recovering from a divorce, breakup or difficult romance. (Curtis, like Aniston, has been married before. He has a son from a previous relationship.) “Repeat after me: I trust that love can be kind, consistent and true,” Curtis says in the Instagram video, making direct eye contact with the camera. “It’s safe for me to be seen, loved and chosen. I release the pain of the past.”
Curtis hasn’t been shy with double tapping either. In April, the hypnotist “liked” a workout pic Aniston posted and commented with a heart and muscle flex. He also “liked” Aniston’s May 25 photo dump spotlighting his 2024 book, Shift: Quantum Manifestation Guide. “She loves his perspective and insight,” the insider says of Curtis, who got his start as an entrepreneur and executive at companies like WebMD. (He also serves as the Institute of Integrative Nutrition’s business and community leader and has given several motivational TEDx Talks.) “Jen has always been spiritual, but he has opened her eyes more and is very knowledgeable, which is something she adores.”
Aniston isn’t just admiring the life coach’s higher-self energy — she’s bringing her own fire. Fifteen years after her final turn as Rachel Green in Friends, the sitcom legend returned to the small screen in 2019 as journalist Alex Levy in the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show, which will debut its fourth season in September. (She nabbed a SAG Award for the role in 2020.) Aniston is also gearing up to portray Jennette McCurdy’s abusive late mother, Debra, in a series adaptation of the former Nickelodeon child star’s bestselling 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, while running her successful haircare line, LolaVie, and partnership with buzzy fitness company Pvolve. As she succinctly put it on The Howard Stern Show in 2019, “I’m very busy.”
Even with her most hectic schedule in more than a decade, Aniston is enjoying this phase of life. “Jen has been in a healthy and healing era for years now,” the insider muses. “She has completely shifted her mindset and life. She is very into health and fitness, and it’s something she and Jim have bonded over.”
While the Emmy winner was initially “hesitant” to dive into a new relationship — her first public one since her 2018 split from ex-husband Justin Theroux — she has “slowly started bringing [Curtis] around her friends and letting him into her world more,” says the insider. “Jen’s always been really independent, and after being married twice, it took a lot for her to open up again.” (Her first marriage to Brad Pitt infamously ended in 2005 as he moved on with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie.)
Meeting Her Match
Only time will tell whether Curtis is The One, but the first source says he is already shaping up to be a “good match” for Aniston. In 2022, the actress admitted that she was eager to find a meaningful connection. “I’d love a relationship. Who knows? There are moments I want to just crawl up in a ball and say, ‘I need support,’” she told Allure. “It would be wonderful to come home and fall into somebody’s arms and say, ‘That was a tough day.’”
Last year, a source told Us that Aniston was “looking for someone she can trust, who makes her laugh … and, of course, they must love dogs!” Curtis seems to check all the boxes: Testimonials about his coaching and speaking engagements from devoted clients praise his “humorous and heartfelt words.” Curtis’ rescue pup, Odie, makes frequent appearances on his Instagram account, including in a 2017 post showing the “sufficiently impressed” canine posing with advance copies of his owner’s first book, The Stimulati Experience, in which Curtis shares his inspiring story about overcoming chronic illness. The author may have even helped Aniston get over her fear of flying. In an April interview with Travel + Leisure, the globe-trotting A-lister admitted she had been “doing some hypnosis lately,” which “shockingly” made a difference with her “extreme” anxiety. Coincidence? Maybe not.
“Jen is in a good place,” the second insider says, noting that the actress is “really happy” with Curtis. “It feels like a healthy, grown-up relationship, [and] her friends think he’s brilliant.”
