The prisoner who attacked notorious wife-killer Scott Peterson over a jailhouse pickle ball spat claims he “beat the hell out of” his fellow inmate — but that they eventually made up.
Peterson, whose pregnant wife’s headless body was found in San Francisco Bay more than 20 years ago, smashed into Charles Mills during the game at Mule Creek State Prison in California, sending Mills into full “attack mode,” he said.
Peterson, 53, “aggressively” sprinted at Mills with his paddle in hand to chase down the ball and apparently made no effort to avoid a collision, Mills told Court TV.
Mills in turn “beat [Peterson] down to the ground,” jumped on top of him and “beat the hell out of him,” he said, according to TMZ.
A “primal urge” overcame him when he saw Peterson charging towards him, Mills said, which was exacerbated by the fact he’s a convicted killer.
The pair were separated and locked up in separate cells — and later made up during a two-hour conversation, Mills said.
Peterson has enough money to pay other inmates to take revenge, Mills told the outlet, making reconciliation in his best interest.
Peterson was convicted of the first-degree murder of his wife, Laci, and the second-degree murder of the couple’s unborn son, Conner, in 2004, though he has continued to claim he is innocent.
“[I]f I have a chance to show people what the truth is, and they are willing to accept it, it would be the biggest thing that I can accomplish right now — because I didn’t kill my family,” Peterson said in a 2024 three-part Peacock docuseries called “Face to Face with Scott Peterson.”
Peterson’s case made headlines again last year after the Los Angeles Innocence Project advocated for him to enter a discovery process to attempt to prove his innocence.
His case famously inspired the bestselling book and award-nominated film “Gone Girl.”
