Influencer Brooklyn McKnight is opening up about her road to recovery after finding a cyst last year.
“Feeling a little Deja vu🙃,” Brooklyn, 25, wrote via her and twin sister Bailey McKnight’s Instagram account on Sunday, May 11. “If you’ve been watching our stories then you already know, but to recap: last year I found a lump in my vaginal wall that (after 7 doctors visits) was determined to be a rare type of cyst!”
She continued, “We got surgery scheduled for right after I got back from Everest, but by then the cyst miraculously disappeared — just in time for me to get pregnant! We thought that was the end of it, but unfortunately it showed up again in my 3rd trimester.”
Brooklyn shared that she was able to give birth to her son, Archer, with “no issues” but she had to schedule another surgery. (Brooklyn and husband Dakota Blackburn welcomed their son in January.)
“Flash forward to now — they officially removed the cyst (which had caused a urethra diverticulum aka hole in my urethra), stitched me up, put a catheter in and I’m on my way to finally being fully healed!” she concluded. “I’ve tried to be honest about this whole process because it is incredibly important to bring awareness around women’s health. It’s been a frustrating journey, but I’m grateful to be on the mend♥️.”
Alongside the message, Brooklyn shared a photo of her sitting in a hospital bed while wearing a yellow hospital gown and matching socks. In another image, Brooklyn was wheeled through the hospital on a bed.
Hours after sharing her health update, Brooklyn celebrated her first Mother’s Day on Sunday by uploading a photo of her cradling her baby.
“First Mother’s Day having experienced motherhood myself — what an incredible feeling! Happy Mother’s Day to our mom, and all moms and mother figures out there♥️,” she wrote via Instagram.
The twosome rose to fame when they were 13 years old, documenting their lives on social media. In 2017, Brooklyn and Bailey, now 25, opened up about their evolving relationship.
“Having a twin is a different kind of relationship in and of itself. But naturally it’s always evolving!” the pair exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “Over the years we have had to learn how to balance being twins, roommates and business partners. Things are always changing though so our relationship as twins is as well.”
