Hilaria Baldwin and her daughter Carmen are the ultimate beauty DIY queens.
Hilaria, 41, and her 11-year-old daughter Carmen, whom she shares with husband Alec Baldwin, talked about the inspiration behind their book, Glowing Up: Recipes to Rock Your Natural Beauty, which went on sale last month. In an exclusive clip from their hit show The Baldwins, Hilaria opened up about her daughter’s love for at-home beauty regimes and immediately knew they should collaborate on a skincare book together.
“Carmen loves creating her own recipes for skin care,” Hilaria explained in a new episode confessional interview, which will air on TLC on Sunday, April 6 at 10 p.m. ET. “She’s always playing and making fun stuff made out of orange juice and coffee.”
The camera then cuts to Hilaria and Carmen mixing up a skincare recipe in their kitchen, using lemons and honey.
“As I was watching my daughter play and do and this and that, I called up my agent and I said I feel like Carmen has a book in her,” Hilaria continued, noting that all the recipes would be tested on both of them first.
So Carmen applied the honey mixture to her mom’s lips and rubbed in the natural remedy.
Alec also makes a cameo, gushing about his pre-teen daughter taking on the beauty industry at such a young age.
“I didn’t see that coming, actually,” he admitted. “She didn’t strike me as she was that girly, girly, you know what I mean? Makeup and things in her hair.”
As the camera played a clip of Carmen applying mascara to her lashes, Alec added, “[She spent] two hours in the mirror with her friends.”
“I mean, I’ve worked with Hollywood actresses who are some of the most famous actresses in the world. They don’t spend 45 minutes doing their lashes, nor do their makeup artists,” the actor quipped.
The Baldwins airs every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
