“Antiques carry stories, energy and put history into a home,” she says. “When I find the right piece, it feels like fate. It’s less about shopping and more about discovering something with soul.”

How do you incorporate antiques into your space without going overboard?
Too many antiques [will make your home] feel like a museum. The magic is in the mix — blending old and new so it feels curated, not cluttered.
Can you offer any tips for before and during treasure hunting?
Do a little research so you know what styles and price points to expect, but also stay open. The best pieces are often the ones you didn’t even know you were looking for. Stay calm, focus on one category at a time and give yourself permission to walk away if it’s too much — the right piece will always find you.
What are your most memorable antique finds?
I have a pair of Murano glass sconces I found in Paris — they’re delicate, dramatic and dripping with character. I didn’t know where I’d put them, but I knew they were coming with me, and since finding them, they’ve been a part of every home I’ve lived in.
Where do you suggest looking online if you can’t shop IRL?
Chairish, 1stDibs and LiveAuctioneers [as] they’re great for specific searches. But nothing beats the feeling of stumbling on a piece in person.
Share your foolproof tips for scoring a solid bargain.
Negotiate respectfully, but always negotiate! Most dealers are open to it, especially at markets. Know your limit, don’t be afraid to ask questions and remember, if you love it, it’s probably worth it. It doesn’t have to be perfect — sometimes the flaws are what make it so special.
