Nothing stirs up drama like exes on the beach.
Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise reunites former couple Justin Glaze and Susie Evans, who dated off screen after appearing on season 17 of The Bachelorette and season 26 of The Bachelor, respectively.
“I think the question is, ‘Is Justin really over his ex?’” bartender Wells Adams asked during an interview with Us Weekly. “My advice, always, is the best way to get over an ex is to get under someone else and there’s a lot of people to get under here. I think that’s [what] remains to be seen. Let’s see what happens.”
Wells noted that he’s “rooting for Justin,” who arrived at the Costa Rica resort during the July 7 premiere. “I really think that he is a lovely guy and I am astonished that he hasn’t found his person because he’s handsome, he’s funny, he’s charming, he’s successful. It’s one of those [things that] doesn’t make any sense to me,” he explained. (Susie, for her part, dated season 26 Bachelor Clayton Echard for less than a year, with the duo splitting six months after the March 2022 finale.)
Hannah Brown, who joined season 10 of BiP as “Paradise Relations,” admitted to Us that she was invested in Justin and Susie’s pre-show relationship.
“I’ve had quite a few experiences dealing with exes. It definitely shakes things up,” Hannah said. “You could feel the tension and I love both of them, and I just wanted for them to both have their unique experience. I mean, I’m not gonna lie, there were some moments there where I just wanted them to rekindle because I just love watching it on social media. I was intrigued in the beginning to see that. It’s interesting to see how they navigate with each other and it definitely shakes things up and brings some excitement.”
After becoming friends in late 2022, Justin and Susie, both 31, started quietly dating in fall 2023. As fans speculated, they confirmed their relationship in January 2024.
“I was like, ‘Hey listen, I don’t know where you stand on our friendship or relationship. Obviously, I respect you so much, and I appreciate our friendship. But I’d be lying if I [said I] haven’t thought about if there is potential for more than a friendship just given the natural chemistry that we had as friends,’” he recalled to E! News at the time.
The twosome sparked split speculation that August. He told Us at the time that the pair were taking things “day by day.”
“We’re taking some time to figure out what’s gonna be best for us,” he said.
In December 2024, Evans shared more insight into their status (before they called it quits for good).
“We are working on things, and seeing if it makes sense for us and taking things slow, taking things privately. [We are] just kind of seeing what really makes sense for us,” she said on the “Almost Famous” podcast at the time. “I think a big thing in life is compatibility. We’re just at points in our life where we have to figure out if we are compatible.”
