A good Samaritan was stabbed for trying to stop a thief from stealing a woman’s cell phone just steps from Columbus Circle over the weekend, cops said.

The violent robber, seen wearing all black, grabbed the 35-year-old woman’s phone at West 58th Street and Ninth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen around 12:50 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The do-gooder, 39, spotted the mugging and tried to pry the device away from the thief — to no avail, according to cops.

The armed bandit then turned on the Samaritan, stabbing him in the stomach with an “unknown object,” police said.

The injured man was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the unnamed phone-snatching victim is still “a little traumatized by the whole experience,” her mother told The Post by phone Monday, as she described the ordeal as “just crazy.”

“She’s OK, but the gentleman who was trying to help her who was hurt is still in the hospital,” she said. “He had surgery.”

“Her phone was stolen, I know that,” the victim’s mom added. “Someone was trying to help her.”

The aggressor, who fled on foot, had not been caught as of Monday.
