A fundraiser for the lone holdout juror who caused Lindsay Clancy’s triple-murder case to end in a hung jury has raised nearly $85,000 amid reports of the male juror’s previous domestic violence allegations and scrutiny from fellow jurors.
The GiveSendGo fundraiser has raised a whopping $84,750 of its $100,000 goal as of Sunday night to provide the unidentified juror with funds for security, lawyers, and any work he’s lost due to potential fallout from thwarting a verdict in Clancy’s sensational trial.
The juror, who has only been described as a black man in his 30s, refused to agree with the 11 other jurors who found Clancy, 36, not guilty by reason of temporary insanity after she fatally strangled her three young children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — in the family’s Duxbury, Mass., home in January 2023.
The judge declared a mistrial as a result of the hung jury.
“The country got the full TikTok-diagnostics package. Postpartum. Psychosis. Voices. Trauma. A stack of pill bottles and a sad playlist. The SSRI-medicated mob ran cover like this was a self-care story instead of a triple child killing. They wanted a diagnosis, not a verdict,” a statement for the fundraiser, started by Tom Hennessey, said.
“One juror held his seat. He looked at what she did, not the brand of Zoloft. So the defense demanded the judge throw him off the jury for ‘not following reasonable doubt’,” the statement raged.
“The judge left him on. The jury hung. Mistrial. Now she can be tried again for killing her children instead of getting a standing ovation for her symptoms.”
The fundraiser — which was flooded with supportive comments for the holdout juror — comes amid reports that he has a history of alleged domestic violence, an active restraining order against him, and an open eviction case for not paying his rent.
The allegations included a Sept. 2021 criminal charge for allegedly grabbing his wife by the throat and throwing her into a dresser, NBC10 Boston reported.
He also has an active restraining order from his teenage nephew, who claimed the man once pushed him to the ground and pummeled him in the face, the outlet reported.
Court records show that the juror divorced his wife after the alleged violent 2021 incident and that the criminal charge against him was dismissed.
His ex-wife, however, said she backed away from pursuing the case because she was worried that testifying could cause her to lose custody of her daughter, the outlet reported.
A fellow male juror on the 12-person panel also claimed the juror shockingly wrapped one of the exercise bands Clancy used to kill her children around a water bottle to mimic their strangulation in the deliberation room.
In response to the NBC10 report, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis offered the lone holdout juror “asylum” in the Sunshine State.
“A man objected to allowing a woman to kill her three young kids and get away with it, so NBC is trying to smear that juror, whose identity should be protected. Another low for legacy media,” DeSantis wrote on X on Friday.
“If the juror is being harassed, Florida will provide asylum — I’m sure he’d be welcomed and appreciated.”
Clancy remains in a state-run psychiatric facility, Tewksbury Hospital. Her next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
