A two-month crackdown on registered sex offenders and predators in one Florida city led to 59 arrests after authorities conducted more than 500 compliance checks, according to the local sheriff’s office.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said its Offender Tracking Unit teamed up with the U.S. Marshals Service for “Operation Riverwatch,” which ran across Jacksonville from June 15 through Aug. 14.
Detectives spent more than 230 hours conducting 535 checks of registered offenders and predators, the sheriff’s office said.
