Flight attendants get pissed off when plane passengers do this — and you’re probably guilty of it, too

Don’t be that person.

However, there’s one thing in particular that people do — or don’t do — when it comes to the airplane bathroom that really pisses off flight attendants.

According to travel expert, Alpine Elements, flight staff hate it when plane passengers don’t properly lock the bathroom door when it’s in use — or fully close it when they’re done using it.

It might seem minor, but it not only confuses passengers who think it’s open for use — but it also causes people to form a line that gets in the way of the flight staff’s back area, blocking crews from getting in and out of their workspace.

Flight staffers say it’s important to lock the door to ensure the “occupied” sign on the outside lights up to indicate to not only them but to fellow passengers that the tiny bathroom is in use.

“When the door lock isn’t engaged properly, people can walk in on someone by accident. It’s embarrassing for everyone involved and wastes valuable time, especially when there’s a queue during busy periods,” said a senior member of one cabin crew, per the Mirror.

Plane etiquette is a hot topic these days — and it doesn’t just have to do with the bathrooms.

One sneaky flyer managed to place their carry-on in what they thought was a conspicuous area, and a fellow passenger called them out for it.

The frustrated flyer took to the “r/delta” forum on Reddit to vent about their experience.

“Suitcase was ‘hidden’ behind the curtain that separates C+ [premium economy] and first,” the original poster wrote.

“Multiple FAs passed this before departure and during the flight and I didn’t notice a single one say anything about it.”

“The carry-on abuser has outed themselves here. We all despise you,” a comment read on the post.

Another person called out the in-flight crew for being lazy on the job: “What happened to actual thorough walks through the cabin to ensure items were fully under the seat in front of people?”

It seems this wasn’t the first time this happened on a flight, as pointed out by another commenter.

“Frankly, I’ve seen stuff like this lately and I guess now it’s OK for people not to bring their seats back to the original position in prep for landing,” they wrote. “The flight attendants do their ‘walk’ and I’m convinced they see it but they walk right by.”
