The family of Julia Hyman — the 27-year-old woman killed in a mass shooting at 345 Park Avenue last month, along with three other victims — has retained a prominent attorney to look into legal action against her employer Rudin Management, which owns and operates the building, The Post has learned.

This week, Hyman’s family hired Alex Spiro, a partner at Quinn Emanuel whose high-profile clients include Elon Musk, Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Alec Baldwin and Eric Adams, to identify potential security failures at the building.

“As we continue to mourn the loss of our daughter Julia, we have focused our energy into investigating the incident, understanding the truth of what happened, and ensuring that something like this never happens again,” the family said in a statement shared with The Post. “We have hired counsel to assist us in these efforts and we will not rest until meaningful change happens.”

The killer, 27-year-old Shane Tamura of Nevada, took an elevator to the 33rd floor where he murdered Hyman, who was an associate at Rudin.

In the wake of Hyman’s tragic death, sources said her family is trying to piece together what happened. One source told The Post the building’s elevators should have been locked down as soon as Tamura entered with a semi-automatic rifle, which could have potentially prevented the killer from getting past the lobby.

Another factor the family is considering, sources said, is whether Rudin Management took adequate precautions given the high-profile nature of the companies in the building.

The killer, a former high-school football player, is believed to have targeted 345 Park because it’s where the NFL is headquartered. Though Tamura never played in the NFL, in a suicide note he expressed belief that he had CTE as a result of the sport.

“You can’t go against the NFL, they’ll squash you,” Tamura wrote, also requesting that doctors “study my brain please.”

It’s been reported that Tamura took the wrong elevator in his quest to reach NFL offices, mistakenly ending up on Rudin’s floor.

This also comes as some of the city’s business leaders consider how they will operate in the event that Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral election. Mamdani has previously posted support for defunding the police but more recently has walked back those comments. Executives tell me they will feel an even greater sense of responsibility to protect the people in their companies if they don’t get local support.

Rudin and Spiro both declined comment.
