Former One Direction singer Liam Payne “begged” his girlfriend to stay in Argentina before his fatal hotel room plunge — and was “moody” when she left him, according to one of her close friends, who said “she’s devastated” over his sudden death.

Payne was “very unhappy” that his New Jersey-born influencer gal pal, Kate Cassidy, wanted to return home to see her dog after traveling with him for weeks, the friend told The Post exclusively.

“Liam didn’t want Kate to leave Argentina. He wanted her to stay. She says he begged her to stay. It was actually a little more heated than you’d think,” said the pal, who asked not to be named.

“He didn’t know why she would leave him, but she wanted to be home with her dog. He didn’t like that at all. He was really moody about it.”

Cassidy flew back to Florida four days before the troubled former boy band heartthrob plummeted to his death Wednesday from the balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires — because the trip was only supposed to last five days.

“She had been there for a long time and wanted to come home, and he gave her no indication of when he’d be ready to leave. So she took things into her own hands and got herself a ticket to go home,” the friend said. “He was really unhappy about that. He made sure she knew that.”

The couple, which had been together for two years,  “weren’t having trouble” otherwise, the friend said.

But the 31-year-old pop star partied with two prostitutes — and had a tense argument with one of them over payment — at the hotel just hours before his fatal fall, local officials said.

“She just has heard about the prostitutes. She knew nothing about that. She just said she has to wrap her mind around it,” Cassidy’s friend said.

“That’s obviously a huge betrayal to her, and that hurts a lot. She hasn’t stopped crying. She’s devastated. She’s got a good support system around her, but this just went from bad to worse. She’s not OK,” she added.

“She has a few people around her, including family members. She’s not alone. She’s responsive to me and our other friends. We’ll all help her however we can.”

In a TikTok post last week, Cassidy said she was simply “so ready to leave” Argentina.

“I was so ready to leave, honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long,” Cassidy revealed in a TikTok video. “We were supposed to be there for like, five days [then] it turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home.’

After his death, she confessed, “I have been at a complete loss,”  on her Instagram Story Friday. “Nothing about the past few days have felt real.”

Cassidy’s dad told The Post Thursday she was heartbroken by the sudden, tragic death of her celebrity boyfriend.

“She’s grieving,” he said at her family home in Harrington Park, a leafy suburb in northeast New Jersey.

On Friday, the family had placed a “please do not disturb” sign on the front door of the home.

Payne plummeted to his death from the third-floor balcony of his trashed hotel room — which was littered with champagne glasses and drug paraphernalia — around 5 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Officials initially said he “had jumped from the balcony of his room” but an autopsy noted he had fallen and may have been unconscious or semi-conscious.
