Rep. Eric Swalwell sent a bizarre late-night message to a liberal media personality who claimed she never met or spoke to the politician prior to his unwelcome note.
Angela Belcamino, who hosts The Bold Seat podcast, posted a screenshot on X purporting to show a direct message the congressman sent to her on the platform in April 2021.
“Hey! Happy Birthday! Have the best one ever,” read the DM, timestamped 11:09 p.m.
“Eric Swalwell is the only sitting Congressman who’s ever DM’d me out of the blue just to wish me a happy birthday—never met or spoken before,” Belcamino captioned the post. “Is that normal behavior or… not really?”
At the time he allegedly sent the message, Swalwell’s second wife had been expecting their third child.
The California Post reached out to Belcamino and Swalwell’s campaign for comment.
The congressman’s alleged escapades on social media came to light amid bombshell sexual misconduct allegations facing the California gubernatorial candidate, which include a rape accusation from a former staffer.
Four of Swalwell’s accusers say he sent them graphic messages on SnapChat, including pictures of his penis and photos of him shirtless, CNN reported.
One woman said he would request nude photos of her, which she sometimes sent, and would send her unsolicited pictures of his genitals.

Swalwell is such a prolific social media user that he was once deemed the “Snapchat king of Congress” in 2016. He was a 35-year-old lawmaker then on his second term in Congress.
One of the most serious allegations came from a woman who said Swalwell raped her in 2024 while she was intoxicated, leaving her bruised and bleeding, CNN reported.
The Manhattan District Attorney is now investigating an allegation of sexual assault levied against Swalwell.
Others have also accused the congressman of harassing them over text or Snapchat.
Swalwell has denied the allegations but did apologize for his past conduct.
“I do not suggest to you in any way that I am perfect or that I’m a saint, I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife,” he said.
