Disturbing home security video caught the moment the elderly victim of career criminal Jamel McGriff shouted “get the f–k out of here,” as the suspect forced his way into the couple’s Queens home.
Video from a neighbor’s home showed the man believed to be McGriff, 42, mulling about outside the Bellerose home on Monday, where neighbors said he was asking residents if he could charge his phone in their home.
Frank Olton, 76, was the only person on the block kind enough to entertain McGriff’s request, with video showing the professional social worker welcoming the stranger into his backyard just before 10:15 a.m. Monday.
After several minutes, his wife Maureen Olton, 77, comes to the backdoor to speak to her husband, who slides back inside and attempts to shut the door — but is quickly followed by McGriff.
“Get the f–k out of here,” a male voice believed to be Frank’s could be heard saying in the clip.
But the couple’s alleged killer didn’t listen.
McGriff forced his way into the home and proceeded to tie up, stab, and burn the Oltons, according to cops.
The couple suffered for hours before their deaths. Frank’s body was found tied to a pole in his basement, stabbed and torched, according to authorities. Maureen, 77, was found badly burned on the first floor, officials said.
Witnesses said McGriff left the residence at roughly 3:10 p.m. before there was any sign of the fire that would engulf parts of the home.
The suspect fled the neighborhood and allegedly went on a spending spree with his victim’s credit cards which is how police were able to track him down to Times Square and arrest him, according to sources.
McGriff allegedly used the victim’s charge cards at Macy’s and at the Regal Cinema in the Great White Way. Investigators used real time information on his location and appearance to nab him Wednesday night, sources said.
“He was spotted in Midtown Manhattan by eagle-eyed cops who didn’t hesitate before jumping into action,” police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a tweet at 6:15 p.m.
“Thank you to the best detectives and the best cops in the world for their work tracking and apprehending this violent criminal.”
The career criminal is also the main suspect in two Big Apple burglaries in the past two months — including a failed attempt at a Verizon store in which he recieved a whooping from an employee.
McGriff was on parole after being released in 2023 after serving 17 years of a 20 year sentence for armed robbery and sex crimes.
