Walt Disney World’s most iconic landmark is getting a Fairy Godmother-like transformation.
Cinderella’s Castle has stood at the center of the Orlando, Florida, theme park for over 50 years and has become an iconic symbol.
During Disney’s Destination D23 fan event on Aug. 31, officials revealed that a new color palette will be coming to the castle — and fans have mixed reactions.
Imagineers held a panel called “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles,” where they discussed the different color schemes and overlays that have graced the beloved castle since it started welcoming guests down Main Street, USA at Magic Kingdom.
The castle currently features a base with pale gray walls and a light pink higher up, while the roofs are blue and the topmost turret is gold.
The new color palette is “inspired by the classic and original look of the castle,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.
“The updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold aiming to enhance the castle’s architecture,” a representative wrote on the blog.
Fans had mixed responses to the announcement, with some saying the rose pink color has grown on them since it debuted in 2020 and others were thrilled to learn that it’s being changed back to the iconic white, gray and blue color palette.
“Oh, we are SO BACK,” one person commented on the Instagram announcement post.
“Were y’all just bored the first time you changed it,” someone questioned.
“Unpopular opinion, I LOVE the pink and blue colors now,” a fan shared.
“It was a pretty change, but I’m ready for it to go back to the classic look!” one said.
“I love it the way it is now. Florida has such grey skies often that the pink made the castle pop. BUT — I also can’t wait to see!” a comment read.
“I’ve MISSED MY CASTLE,” someone exclaimed.
“About time,” one wrote, while another added “Finally!!”
A timeline for the new color changes has not been announced yet.
Disney said that Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World consists of a “timeless color combination” of blues and golds, “to reflect the Florida sunshine in a way that makes the castle shimmer from every angle.”
