Kristin Cavallari appeared to make a rare — and subtle — comment about her friendship with Kelly Henderson coming to an end after that Jay Cutler affair speculation.
During the Wednesday, June 4, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Cavallari, 38, was asked whether she ever “ruined a perfectly good friendship” over a show.
“I have had friendships be ruined but I would say that I didn’t do it,” Cavallari coyly replied. “It is never me.”
Cavallari didn’t name Henderson by name and Laguna Beach and The Hills viewers know she has been at odds with other costars in the past. The subtle remark, however, came after she recently opened up about where she stands with Henderson after Very Cavallari.
“I’ve really had one adult friendship with a woman that blew up in my face,” Cavallari shared on a November 2024 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “I felt as though one of my best friends at the time, who was on the Very Cavallari show, I don’t think she ever had an affair with my ex-husband, [Jay Cutler]. But the viewers of the show, season 2, were accusing them of having an affair.”
Cavallari claimed that Henderson, 42, added “fuel to the fire” by not denying the affair rumors, which made her “uncomfortable.”
“I wrote her an email — you know it’s serious when it’s an email — and I was very careful about just saying, ‘Hey, here’s how your actions made me feel,’” she recalled. “I in no shape or form attacked or blamed [her]. It was just, ‘This is how I feel.’ And it blew up in my face.”
Cavallari called Henderson’s alleged reaction to the email the start of the end of their friendship.
“My thing with friends is if we can’t have a conversation, like, ‘These are my feelings,’” she added. “And if you can’t respect my feelings and basically just turn it around on me, I can’t do anything with that.”
Very Cavallari, which aired from 2018 to 2020, offered a glimpse at Cavallari’s life in Nashville, Tennessee, with then-husband Cutler, 42, as she opened her flagship Uncommon James store. In the short-lived show, viewers got a chance to meet the team behind the brand and see their behind-the-scenes drama.
Before the E! show came to an end, Very Cavallari addressed Cavallari and Henderson pressing pause on their friendship. “It wasn’t the actual accusations of them having an affair that made me upset, it was how Kelly went about it,” she said in a January 2020 episode, criticizing Henderson for not publicly denying the speculation and accusing her of using Cutler for “her own personal gain.”
Henderson, for her part, confirmed she and Cutler never had an affair. She later claimed Cavallari played up the drama for a story line, sharing.
“I think that’s interesting that after she said all of the stuff that she said about me on national television and things that were not true, that she expected me to reach out,” she said during an October 2020 appearance on The Domenick Nati Show. “At that point, I felt extremely betrayed and not like we were friends.”
She added: “I probably didn’t reach out either because I was getting so blown up by tabloids because of what she put in people’s minds about an affair that was not ever true, nor did it happen. So yeah, I wasn’t very happy with her. It didn’t feel like the right thing for me to reach out. I was not in a place to do that.”
