Chris Rock Pitches ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff to Taylor Sheridan: ‘Let’s Do the White Slavery Show’

Chris Rock pitched a “white slavery show” as the latest spinoff in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe.

“Hey, if Taylor Sheridan’s got a job for me, I will take that job,” Rock, 61, told Variety in a recent interview. “I could be the Black guy on Yellowstone, no problem.”

The comedian joked about possible ideas he could bring to the table.

“I could just be the Black guy that owns some land and has, like, white slaves,” he quipped. “Taylor Sheridan, let’s do the white slavery show! I’m the guy!”

Sheridan, 56, got his start as an actor before writing scripts for movies including Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. His focus later shifted to the small screen, which is how Yellowstone was born. The hit series aired from 2018 to 2024 as viewers tuned in for updates on the fictional Dutton family.

As the Yellowstone universe expanded with spinoffs such as 1883 and 1923, Sheridan also created original shows Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Tulsa King.

“Because Paramount trusts me and gives me the time to go shoot 10 to 14 days for a television episode, we can treat it like a movie, and it looks like a movie,” Sheridan told Deadline of his production process in January 2022. “We can take the time to rehearse it and light it and build these set pieces. And if I call them and say, ‘I need two helicopters in one day,’ they just go, ‘Alright.’”

He added: “At the end of the day, to go to some of these locations where most people have never been, where you’re opening up a new world, and all of these places or characters in the story, to me, it’s fascinating.”

Sheridan has scored major A-list actors for his shows — from Kevin Costner and Harrison Ford to Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore. Others have publicly pitched themselves for the opportunity to work with the producer.

Tom Selleck previously showed his interest, telling Parade in December 2024, “A good Western’s always on my list. I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.”

Selleck, 81, also showed support for pal Sam Elliott, saying, “Sam was great in [1883]. Sam’s always great. We go way, way back. I love him dearly. I’d love to work with Sam.”

Meanwhile, Kris Jenner‘s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, dropped a bombshell during season 4 of The Kardashians when he suggested he almost had a role on Yellowstone. In one September 2023 episode, Jenner, 70, recalled her boyfriend’s unexpected connection to the hit series.

“I am so excited to watch the next episode of Yellowstone,” she told Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian. “So they asked Corey to be on Yellowstone. And he said no. I told him to say no. I thought he was going to have a romantic relationship.”

Gamble, 45, noted that he would have said yes to the opportunity, adding, “If it wasn’t for you, I would be a Yellowstone star.”
