Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Chick-fil-A has quietly changed its waffle fries recipe – removing an ingredient that some frustrated diners said made the potato snack not “appetizing.”

The restaurant chain, which introduced waffle fries to its menu in 1985, faced staunch backlash after adding pea starch to its recipe in late 2024.

Bosses said the ingredient made waffle fries stay crispier for longer, but it proved to be a divisive addition.

Chick-fil-A heeded the fan fury and has confirmed that pea starch in waffle fries is no more, as reported by People. The restaurant’s website also shows that the pea starch from the fries’ ingredients list.

The move has been welcomed by scores of diners – especially those who suffer from allergies.

“Thanks Chick-fil-A for taking pea starch out of your fries,” one chuffed X user said.

“My son with food allergies can eat them again!”

“THEY REMOVED THE PEA STARCH!! HALLELUJAH!!” another wrote on Facebook.

“I’m gonna miss that pea starch. Said no one,” a third diner quipped as they welcomed the recipe change.

Diners said the fries taste better now that pea starch is no more.

Some Chick-fil-A lovers said they could tell pea starch has been removed from the recipe as their fries are “soggy.”

Scores of diners had been lobbying restaurant chiefs to make a change.

One X user asked if there was an online petition after describing pea starch as “not appetizing.”

“Hate the new fries!! Please change them back,” a diner said, commenting on a December 2024 Instagram post.

“Your new fries are terrible. I can’t even eat them anymore and they were my favorite thing. Please go back,” another said at the time.
