Chase Chrisley and his younger brother, Grayson Chrisley, held nothing back about where they stand in the family’s new series, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.

At the beginning of episode 2, which aired Monday, September 1, Grayson, 19, compared his relationship with Chase, 29, to that of their dad, Todd Chrisley, and uncle Randy.

“My issue is, I see a lot of the same things with me and Chase as I saw with my dad and his brother,” he told the cameras. “You know, we don’t really talk to him much ’cause my dad was always having to bail him out of stuff. And [my dad] tried to help him his whole life. … You can’t help somebody who doesn’t wanna help themselves.”

While spending time with grandma Nanny Faye, Grayson revealed Chase invited him to go golfing. Todd’s mother seemed hopeful that this could be a turning point in the brothers’ relationship, but Grayson appeared skeptical.

In a confessional, Chase shed more light on the siblings’ bond — and their sister Savannah Chrisley’s role in their dynamic. “I don’t get to see Grayson as often as I’d like. I feel like Savannah’s kind of driven a little wedge there,” he alleged, adding that he was excited to “have a good time” with Grayson and “ask him about college [and] how he’s been doing.”

Both Grayson and Savannah, 28, expressed frustration with Chase not being there for their family after Todd, 56, and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to prison on tax evasion and bank fraud charges. The couple served 28 months at separate facilities before being pardoned and released in May.

“Chase lives in his own world that only exists to him. Doesn’t exist to anybody else,” Grayson claimed during Monday’s episode. “At the end of the day, he’s gonna do what he’s gonna do and there’s nothing anybody can [do to] change it.”

While golfing, Chase told his brother he didn’t want to experience another “awkward” family dinner like the one cameras captured during the Lifetime premiere. Grayson told Chase that a good place to start would be “bettering himself, which helps everybody.” (Earlier in the episode, Chase’s family shared their reactions to his January arrest for simple battery following a drunken night in Atlanta.)

Grayson also encouraged his older brother to see a therapist, but Chase argued he didn’t need one. “You’re my brother, I love you. I would love for you to have your life together,” Grayson added.

Chase continued to put most of the blame on their sister for creating tension within the family. “Savannah just wants to be worshiped, and I’m not doing that. I don’t know what her beef is with me,” he told Grayson, claiming that his texts and calls to Savannah often go unanswered.

“I know Savannah’s trying to paint me out to be this big, bad monster that’s not there for the family, but that’s just not the case. I wanna be there for my family. I want us to actually have a family dynamic and a family relationship,” Chase said in a confessional. “I’ve reached out and I’ve apologized for anything she feels that I’ve done, or haven’t done. And I told her that I’m here when she’s ready. I just don’t think she’s ready right now.”

According to Grayson, however, the apology may not have been so genuine. “[He] made it seem like it was some heartfelt thing, that he wanted to rekindle the relationship, and he goes, ‘You know, we just really need to get along better for the show,’” Grayson claimed. “He does everything for the cameras.”

As tempers began to rise during the boys’ golf outing, Chase warned a producer that he might get up and leave. Grayson then added, “We’re not getting anywhere with this. It’s a s*** show.”

The Chrisleys: Back to Reality continues on Lifetime Tuesday, September 2, at 8 p.m. ET with another two back-to-back episodes on September 9. The finale airs September 16.
