Candace Cameron Bure made a rare comment about the public feuds she’s been caught up in over the years, sharing how she deals with the backlash against her.
The Full House alum, 49, said that she tries to rise above the “weird” squabbles on the Monday, November 17, episode of Madison Prewett’s “Stay True” podcast.
“But it’s just, like, weird. It’s weird,” Cameron Bure stressed about the negativity that has been sometimes leveled against her online.
She continued, “How do I handle them? I usually don’t fight back in the comments, because nothing really comes from it. I feel like when you fight back in the comments, it becomes defensive. I feel like the more people defend themselves, the less integrity it holds.”
Instead, the actress said she often opts to let the situations play out without her personal involvement.
“I let God fight my battles a lot online. I also let the other people who are genuine fans fight my battles for me too,” she added. “Because sometimes they come in, they’re like, ‘She doesn’t do that. That’s not what she meant by that,’” Cameron Bure said. “It just takes that self control, that you’re like, ‘God, I just have to let that go because I’m not gonna please everybody, and just help me walk my walk that is honoring and pleasing to you as best as I can. Help me learn and discern.’ That’s the biggest thing.”
Cameron Bure has been embroiled in several high-profile clashes, oftentimes stemming from being outspoken about her conservative Christian beliefs.
In July 2024, Cameron Bure publicly criticized the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony for featuring a drag performance seemingly recreating The Last Supper.
“It’s the best of the best athletes in the world competing for the title, so to watch such an incredible event that’s going to take place over the next two weeks and see the opening ceremonies complexly blasphemed and mock the Christian faith with their interpretation of the Last Supper was disgusting,” she wrote via an Instagram video at the time.
When Cameron Bure’s former Full House costar Jodie Sweetin later shared a video of a comedian mocking the Olympics controversy, followers believed there was beef between the pair.
In April 2025, Sweetin, 43, addressed the alleged feud on “The Vault” podcast, denying her post was directed at Cameron Bure. However, Sweetin added that she stood by her view.
“I’m not changing anything I said,” she said. “But it was not an intentional dig. But it was still what I wanted to say.”
In the past, Cameron Bure has also been outspoken about her views on same-sex relationships, drawing ire from some fellow celebrities.
Cameron Bure clashed with Raven-Symoné in 2015 over their opposing stances on an Oregon bakery that wouldn’t bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
The former Hallmark star defended the bakers and argued they had a right to stand by their religious freedoms, while the Disney Channel alum, 39, questioned the discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community.
In November 2022, One Tree Hill alum Hilarie Burton Morgan, 43, called Cameron Bure a “bigot” after she announced her departure from Hallmark in order to defect to the Great American Family network.
“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” Cameron Bure told The Wall Street Journal at the time.
Two days later, Cameron Bure responded via an Instagram video, referencing “those who hate what I value and who are attacking me online” and “those who have tried to assassinate my character.” She did not refer to Burton Morgan by name.
Dance Moms’ JoJo Siwa also took aim at Cameron Bure in July 2022, describing the actress as “rude” via a TikTok video.
Following the social media post, Cameron Bure got in touch with Siwa. Cameron Bure shared via an Instagram post that during a phone call, the pair discussed the interaction, which involved the actress refusing to take a photo with Siwa at the time, who was then just 11 years old.
“‘I broke your 11-year-old heart. Ugh. I feel crummy,’” Cameron Bure recalled telling Siwa in the phone call. She added, “We are both positive, encouraging people, and I told JoJo how much I’ve always appreciated her because she has been a good role model because of her positivity throughout her whole life and career.”
Siwa, 22, later addressed the situation in a video obtained by PageSix in July 2022.
“I will say because I had a bad experience, that doesn’t mean that she is an awful human,” she said. “I think it just was an inconvenient time for her, and little 11-year-old me was just so pumped up and so excited, but that doesn’t mean she’s the worst human ever.”
