Brittany Cartwright is recovering from surgery.

Cartwright, 36, shared via Instagram on Sunday, October 5, that she underwent an undisclosed surgical procedure, posting a photo of her stomach wrapped in compression bandages with two surgical drains filled with red liquid attached.

“When they said “remove what no longer serves you,” I took it literally 💅,” the reality TV star captioned the snap.

Us Weekly has reached out to a representative for Cartwright for comment.

The Valley star also offered a vague explanation of what she’d undergone within the post’s comments section. “In all seriousness, y’all know I always keep it real — and sooo…I did a thing,” Cartwright wrote. “Something I’ve wanted to do for years and I finally took the step for me. I couldn’t be happier. Still recovering, but feeling stronger (and lighter) every day. Can’t wait to share more with you soon!”

Cartwright’s snap, a mirror selfie taken in a luxurious bathroom, also captured what appeared to be a compression bra, as suggested by fans who took to the comments section to speculate over what specific surgery was performed.

“I think she did a tummy tuck but it does look like she may have taken her implants out also,” one fan wrote, referring to the breast augmentation surgery she underwent that was featured in season 4 of Vanderpump Rules. (The procedure was financed by Cartwright’s estranged husband and former Valley costar, Jax Taylor, whom she filed to divorce in August 2024.)

Other notable comments on Cartwright’s candid post included a message of support from Kristen Doute, another Valley costar. “My gorgeous girl! Dropping that dead weight and went for the upgrade!! @drpay @drjlayke,” Doute, 42, wrote, tagging two plastic surgeons based in Beverly Hills, California.

Cartwright shared further insight into her recovery via her Instagram Stories on Sunday evening, posting a photo of a small vase filled with a single rose that was given to her by her son, Cruz, 4. “Cruzy picked me a flower from the garden to keep by my bed as I recover,” Cartwright wrote. “He comes in throughout the day to gently give me hugs and kisses.” (Cartwright shares Cruz with Taylor, 46.)

She also shared her recovery grid post via another Instagram Story, pairing three emojis that showed a smiley face circled by red hearts.

Cartwright said on the March 21 episode of her “When Reality Bites” podcast that she was open to breast surgery at the time. “I get comments and stuff about my breasts all the time and it’s so annoying because I had my boobs done, gosh, it’s probably about 10 years,” she began. “It’ll be time to get them redone again soon anyway. But after I had my son and as I said earlier, my weight, like, fluctuates so bad. So my boobs get really big or they’ll shrink, they’re one of the first places that I gain weight in. And a lot of people will accuse me of having my breasts done again.”

She continued on the podcast, “It’s definitely something I’m looking into for the future. I definitely would go smaller.”
