It’s the bride’s world and the groom is just living in it.

A wedding welcome sign has drummed up controversy online, with people slamming the bride as “narcissistic” and “self-centered.”

In the subReddit r/WeddingShaming, a user posted a photo of a wedding welcome sign that read “welcome to Lauren’s wedding,” and, in smaller type below, “featuring” the groom, whose name was redacted.

While the couple clearly was in on the joke, Redditors were divided on whether it was amusing or downright “tacky.”

“Comes off very self-centered, narcissistic, bridezilla, etc.,” chided one person.

“I mean… ugh… maybe they both thought this was cute… and if they did, it may be a sign that the marriage is gonna be rocky,” someone else chimed in.

“This would be pretty funny for a bachelorette party or bridal shower, but a wedding???” a baffled commenter wrote.

“Divorce laywers must love seeing these signs [sic],” said another. “You know this wedding isn’t going the distance.”

“IF the groom is in on it as a joke. Then this is funny and I see no issues,” one Redditor commented. “But if bride is truly doing this because she only thinks of it as her day. That is when this is a flag!”

“Lauren should be ashamed of her margins, if anything,” scolded one person who was more concerned with the design of the sign than its contents.

“The thing that most deserves shaming here is the lack of padding at the top of the sign,” another agreed.

“This is clearly meant to be funny, lighten up a bit,” one person said, jumping to the bride’s defense.

But these lovebirds aren’t the first to have a laugh like this.

In 2023, a bride named Becca and her groom Jack put up a similarly designed sign at their nuptials.

“Welcome to Becca’s wedding,” the poster read. “Featuring Jack.”

The sign was shared on TikTok, where people called it “the best” wedding welcome sign they’ve seen.

“It’s Becca’s world and we’re just living in it,” one user wrote.

“I hope Becca’s day was PERFECT. Shout out to Jack for his participation,” someone else said.

“Funny but also kinda sad like it’s his wedding too,” another chimed in.

“I mean we all think it,” one user commented. “I bet it was a brilliant wedding if they have this humor.”
