What a bosshole.

A monstrous manager earned a well-deserved spot in the pantheon of horrible bosses after attempting to rescind an employee’s annual leave — after they’d arrived at their foreign destination.

The miserable move was detailed in a viral TikTok video by Ben Askins, a UK career expert who reads anonymous submissions from employees about their abusive, boundary-crossing bosses.

“C’mon, you must know you’re not allowed to do that,” he declared — while shaming the latest bosshole for his over 850,000 followers.

According to screenshots of the text exchange, the honcho had messaged the employee: “Hey, I am sorry to do this so late, but there has been a mistake with the annual leave and I am going to have to cancel the second half of your annual leave this week.”

“You will need to be in the office Thursday and Friday,” they added, to which the flabbergasted worker responded, “Huh? But I am already in Mexico?”

Despite their protestation, the toxic taskmaster doubled down, continuing, “Sorry, like I said, there is nothing I can do. I am going to update the system now saying you will be in.”

When the distressed underling explained that it was impossible for them to make it back in time as they were “literally in another country,” the manager demanded that they alter their travel arrangements.

“You will have to move your flights around,” they said. “I have just checked and there is one on Wednesday evening that you can get.”

The employee was appalled over the response, writing, “This is a joke right? You aren’t seriously asking me this?”

“Definitely not a joke. And I am not asking, I am telling you the situation,” the manager replied, unfazed. “I appreciate it isn’t ideal but too many people are off Thursday and Friday and so you are going to have to be back here by then. I have updated the system.”

However, the employee put the kibosh on any notion that they were ending their vacation prematurely.

“You can do what you want,” they declared. “Even if I wanted to come back in time (which I can’t), I wouldn’t, and if you push this I will be reporting this.”

Askins found the boss’s behavior especially egregious as they were making the employee pay for a “mistake” they’d made with the annual leave database.

The job maven said that the oopsie-prone overlord should’ve instead gotten a freelancer or rearranged the rota to cover the shift — rather than bug the employee while they were living it up, south of the border.

Askins concluded that annual leave was a “right not a privilege” — and that employers can’t “f–k around with it.”

TikTok commenters concurred. “Time to normalize NOT responding while in vacation. Don’t answer. It’s not a debate,” said one.

Another wrote, “A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.”

“I actually genuinely hate bosses and managers who think they own you simply because you work for a company!! It’s sickening,” said a third.
