Being one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Ben Affleck and his family have more eyes on them than most day in and day out.

“I’m aware that it’s absurd and it’s ridiculous,” he said in an interview with GQ about some of the headlines that are written about him.

“There’s nothing newsworthy at all about the day-to-day events of my life or the conversation I have with one person or another person that’s photographed,” he continued. “And often it’s like the big trick is to say So-and-so does this amid that, imply some correlation between the two.”

It can be a lot for anyone to deal with, celebrity or not.

“In other words, some broad event is taking place in some way, whether globally or around this person’s life,” Affleck continued, telling GQ. “And look, here they are frustrated with the parking meter. I’m definitely aware of the cosmic joke of it all.”

So how does the Gone Girl star deal with it all? Affleck prioritizes the truth and praises his ex-wife Jennifer Garner for their coparenting relationship.

Despite whatever is being written about him, despite what the photos being taken of him depict, Affleck says, “Look, I know what’s going on in my life.”

“And also, really more importantly, my kids know.”

During their 10-year marriage from 2005 to 2015, Affleck and Garner, both 52, welcomed three children into the world: 19-year-old Violet, 16-year-old Seraphina, and 13-year-old Samuel.

Despite being separated and divorced for the better part of the last 10 years, the former couple is often photographed together as they continue to raise their three children.

“We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something on a supermarket stand, we would say, well, ‘You know this isn’t always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant,’” Affleck would explain to his kids.

“And I’m really lucky that I have a really good coparent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well,” Affleck continued.

“It’s more of a headache than anything else and there certainly are worse things,” he admitted before saying that while he has “yet to figure out why” he’s often the topic of those headlines, Affleck adds that he thinks it’s because “I don’t present in a very careful way.”

Affleck explained it, telling GQ, “some people are probably, I guess you’d call them smarter or more strategic because they think, well: ‘I don’t want to be seen wearing some T-shirt or spilling some drink.’ And I just think: ‘Oh f—k it, man, I could give a s—t.’ I just want to get the coffee.”

All in all, Affleck says his life is “actually pretty drama free.”
