Below Deck‘s Solène Favreau learned her lesson about respecting her boss after an “uncomfortable” interaction with Captain Kerry.

During the Monday, September 1, episode of the hit Bravo series, Solène’s bad work ethic caught chief steward Fraser Olender‘s attention. He attempted to put a stop to her constant breaks by asking bosun Hugo Ortega to have a chat with the deck crew about not distracting Solène. The stew quickly caught wind of the request and tried to track down who it came from.

Solène’s attempt to figure out who gave the order turned into an awkward interaction with Kerry, in which she accused him of giving the order. The captain wasn’t thrilled with how she broached the topic during a crew lunch — or how she spoke to him.

“My understanding is Fraser asked the deck crew to stop distracting you so you can do your job,” he told Solène. “Because he wants you to succeed in the job.”

In a confessional, Kerry elaborated on his frustration with Solène. “I don’t think she quite understands how to talk to your superior — especially the captain of the vessel,” he added.

Fraser was then pulled into the captain’s quarters to discuss what is next for Solène. While Fraser didn’t want to fire Solène, he wasn’t sure how to proceed amid their final charter. Kerry, meanwhile, brought up his public conversation with Solène as an example of how much progress she would still have to make.

“I just want to go over the uncomfortable conversation at the table,” Kerry said. “I was a bit thrown off. It was a bit bold of her to just come out like that. Let her know that was inappropriate. I am not her work mate.”

Season 12 has documented several highs and lows after bringing back Kyle Stillie, Fraser, Captain Kerry and later alum Chef Anthony Iracane. Joining the crew were new members Chef Lawrence Snowden, bosun Caio Poltronieri, deckhands Jess Theron and Damo Yorg and stews Barbara Kulaif, Rainbeau de Roos and Solène.

According to Fraser, viewers should expect a firing — or two.

“There are firings. There are hirings,” he teased to Us Weekly in May. “There are disasters left, right and center. But I cannot tell you enough how dramatic and how fun this season is. It is nonstop.”

Fraser continued: “I was so excited to get into this season. I think I’ve grown so much since I first started out on the show — and you never know what you’re going to get as a crew. But I just wanted to make sure that out of any season, this one is where I wanted to bring my crew to the best of their ability. I wanted harmony and I wanted love and friendship and peace amongst all the madness. I think we succeeded.”

Below Deck airs on Bravo Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
