A tense afternoon standoff in a Los Angeles neighborhood ended without a single shot fired Tuesday after an armed suspect barricaded himself on Rose Avenue.
The incident began around 1:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Rose Avenue but officials have released few details about what led up to the confrontation.
Officers responded to reports of a man armed with a gun, triggering a barricade situation that drew a significant police response. At some point, the suspect — described by LAPD only as a white male — was taken into custody according to the Westside Current.
Authorities said the man is being investigated for assault with a deadly weapon, though it remains unclear what exactly prompted that allegation or whether anyone was injured.
Video from the scene captured a swarm of officers clad in heavy tactical gear surrounding the area as a police helicopter circled overhead, adding to the intensity of the situation. Neighbors watched nervously from a distance as law enforcement moved in, unsure how the confrontation would end.
Despite the presence of a firearm, initial police information did not indicate that any shots were fired according to reports.
