A teacher in Arizona had the wrong stream of thought.
Elementary school educator Curt Hinton allegedly exposed his penis in front of a class full of students to urinate – and offered an odd excuse for the indecent act, according to authorities.
The 52-year-old sixth-grade educator at Wilson Elementary School in Phoenix is accused of peeing into a can while sitting at his desk on March 18, Arizona Family reported Friday, citing Phoenix police.
A small group of students went to the principal to report they heard what sounded like falling water before discovering it was their teacher relieving himself at the front of the classroom rather than in a restroom, the agency said.
Each student claimed they saw their teacher’s genitalia. Police noted that Hinton’s desk was not enclosed, according to the outlet.
When confronted by cops, Hinton allegedly admitted to peeing in a white can inside his classroom, but stressed that he didn’t think his students could see as he was covering his penis with his hand, Phoenix police said.
He also claimed he was new to the school and didn’t know how to get another staffer to watch his class so he could run to the restroom, law enforcement said.
Hinton reportedly said he ended up reverting to what he did while serving in the military when he couldn’t leave his post.
He was charged with four counts of indecent exposure.
The school said the teacher was placed on leave, Fox 10 reported.
“We are actively working with the Phoenix Police Department regarding this matter,” school officials said in a statement.
“In accordance with policy, Wilson Elementary School District cannot provide details regarding personnel matters; however, we can confirm that the teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending further action, has been relieved of all duties and has been arrested.”
