3 Must-Watch Peacock Movies to Binge This Weekend (August 22-24): ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ and More

Peacock has hit a rough patch for the month because it doesn’t have a lot of new movies to offer this week.

This tends to happen because Peacock doesn’t spread out its new titles like some of its streaming rivals. But there are still some fun flicks to enjoy, if you know where to look.

The Watch With Us team has selected three underrated Peacock movies that you need to watch this weekend. And chances are good that most of these films will be gone after August 31.

Our picks include a sci-fi western, a superhero-coded martial arts flick and a teen comedy that’s withstood the test of time.

‘Cowboys and Aliens’ (2011)

No one can ever say that Cowboys & Aliens doesn’t deliver on the promise of its title. In the Old West, everyone is outgunned when aliens from another world start kidnapping random people and exterminating the rest. Humanity’s lone hope for survival is Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig), an outlaw who can’t even remember who he really is.

The one thing Jake has going for him is an alien weapon attached to his wrist that can do serious damage to the invaders. Even Jake’s enemy, Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), is willing to fight alongside him to rescue his son and other victims from the aliens. The enigmatic Ella Swenson (Olivia Wilde) may have the answers to Jake’s question about his past. But first, they’ve got a world to save.

Cowboys & Aliens is streaming on Peacock.

‘The Man with the Iron Fists’ (2012)

There aren’t many American movies that tap into the spirit of Asian martial arts flicks like The Man with the Iron Fists. This was a passion project for the rapper RZA, who cowrote the film, directed it, and starred as the title character. The Blacksmith (RZA) can create incredible weapons, and someone has used his creations to assassinate the leader of the Lion Clan ahead of a gold shipment passing through his village.

Zen-Yi (Rick Yune) arrives in the Blacksmith’s village to avenge his father’s death, while Jack Knife (Russell Crowe) is only there to protect the gold shipment. Dave Bautista plays their nearly invincible adversary, Brass Body. The only way to defeat Brass Body’s superhuman strength and durability is for the Blacksmith to use his own lethal creations in a battle to the death.

‘She’s All That’ (1999)

She’s All That was very successful at the box office 26 years ago, and it’s not hard to see why when its supporting cast includes Matthew Lillard, Kieran Culkin, Anna Paquin, Gabrielle Union, Usher, and the late Paul Walker. Freddie Prinze Jr. takes the lead as Zack Siler, a popular high school student who is dumped by his girlfriend, Taylor Vaughan (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe).

To spare his ego, Zack makes a bet that he can replace Taylor with any girl at school and transform his new partner into a prom queen. He chooses to romance Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook), a nerdy art student. But as Zack develops real feelings for Laney, the cruel wager that he made may keep them from forming a lasting connection.

She’s All That is streaming on Peacock.
