Two New York State troopers were stabbed by a suspected female car thief in a vicious attack in a quiet town near Buffalo Saturday afternoon, officials said. 

The violence erupted as the law officers approached the stolen car at Crosby’s Gas Station in Bolivar around 3:25 p.m. and attempted to arrest the driver, who resisted, stabbing one trooper just above the eye and the other in the head, New York State Police announced

One trooper fired their gun, but did not strike the suspect, police said. 

The alleged carjacker was taken into custody with minor injuries. 

The trooper who was knifed in the eye was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester in serious condition. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Bolivar is a small town in Western New York, south of Buffalo.
